Devansoy, a leading supplier of natural soy ingredients,
recently announced significant increases in its production capacity, in response
to industry demand.
When completed, Devansoy will have increased its current production capacity by
10 times. The increased capacity, achieved through a strategic alliance and the
construction of a new processing facility in north central Illinois, is
scheduled to be in effect by February 15, 2002.
Devansoy Chief Operating Officer J. Roger Kilburn sees
this as a logical and necessary step to compete in the natural soyfoods
industry, which currently accounts for over $2.7 billion in sales annually and
is forecasted to grow 35% in 2002.
“As natural soy products continue to rise in
popularity, we wanted to be poised to meet growing demand,” said Kilburn.
“If you’re not moving forward, you’re falling behind, and this initiative
is definitely a big step forward.”
A three-decade veteran of the soybean industry, Kilburn
currently serves as president of the Soyfoods Association of North America (SANA)
and is a member of its board of directors.
The company has also re-branded itself to reflect its
recent changes. Most recently known as Devansoy Farms, the company has shortened
its name to Devansoy in an effort to strengthen its position as a
forward-focused company. Additional resources in Sales and Technical Services
have been added to further support the industry demand.
“As we prepare to take the lead in the natural soy
category, it seemed appropriate to re-examine who we are and what we have to
offer,” said Kilburn. “The new name reflects the progressive nature of our
efforts.”
Devansoy is a leading supplier of natural soy ingredients made from
identity-preserved soybeans. Their products include liquid soymilk concentrate,
soymilk powders and soy flours, available in conventional and Organic. All
products are IP and Kosher Parve. The company was established in Carroll, Iowa
in 1991 by soybean industry standout Elmer Schettler and continues to operate
from Carroll.
